TV presenter and actress Toni Gonzaga's interview with former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. caused controversy in in her program Toni Talks on YouTube.
Toni was criticized on the social media platform Twitter because she allegedly let the former senator serve as the host of the platform to spread propaganda about her father, the former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
This became a fierce dispute between 'dilawan' and Marcos supporters. Ateneo Martial Law Museum also urged Toni to invite Marcoses victims to watch their next episode.
Now, there are known personalities who praise and defend the TV-presenter. One of them is Secretary of State and Director General of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Mon Cualoping. Atached to the quote card created by an entertainment website for Toni, Cualoping said the that Toni has brain cells.
The said quote came fom Edu Manzano's interview in August 2020. Toni said in the interview that she is at a stage in her life where she no longer cares about Bashers.
Attributed to things that now affect the actress, Cualoping also criticized the open letter from the Ateneo Military Museum to Toni.
The open letter stated that they want the actress to interview the victims or their families who survived martial law.
“The Ateneo Martial Law Museum does not understand the values of democracy. Dictatorial in nature. Sabagay. The Ateneo. Sila lang magaling," Cualoping said.
“I am really the Atenista’s favorite. Either that or they’re obsessed with me. Ganda lalaki ako eh,” he added.
Showbiz host and vlogger Ogie Diaz also defended Toni in front of bashers in a long facebook post.
According to Ogie, if he is to be questioned, Toni should no longer need to question the victims of martial law. The talent manager added that if they don't like what Toni did, then they have to create their own Youtube channel to contradict the information posted on the actress' channel.
Many agrees with Ogie's statement. As of now, the said interview has gain million of views on the video platform site.
